E.M. Pollmann, 1949
A large double bass made in Markneukirchen, Germany by the E.M. Pollmann shop in 1949. We see a LOT of Pollmann basses pass through our shop for sale or repair, but this is the first example we have seen with a flatback made of birdseye maple! This beauty features a spruce top, birdseye maple flatback and ribs, and a flamed maple neck/scroll. The traditional Pollmann filigree is found around the perimeter of both top and back plates, in addition to the perimeter of each pegbox cheek. This is a gorgeous bass that would make an excellent orchestral instrument - the power and fundamental is strong with this one!
