Eugene Sartory (1871-1946) is one of the most iconic names in bowmaking. His bows are prized for their fine playing characteristics and sought by players of the highest caliber. Sartory was born in Mirecourt, France and after apprenticing with Charles Pecatte and Alfred Lamy, he established his own shop in Paris where he remained for the rest of his career.
This particular example is stamped E SARTORY A PARIS and is dated between 1910-1920. It features a round pernambuco stick with ivory tip plate, silver winding, and black thumb leather. The frog is ebony mounted in nickel silver, with pearl slide, Parisian eyes, and octagonal nickel button. This bow is original in all parts.
