Johann Gottleb Pfretzschner

Fully carved 7/8 size bass, labeled “Johann Gottleb Pfretzschner, 1778”, made ca. 1890s in Germany. Fine, straight grain spruce top, with lightly figured maple ribs, back, and neck. Fresh set-up work completed by BVS in 2018, including fingerboard dressing, new adjustable bridge, and soundpost adj. A beautiful bass that was played professionally in Philadelphia, New England, and throughout the Southeast for many years. Would make an excellent orchestral instrument! Consignment.
