Whatever your playing needs, we listen carefully and work hard to get the most out of your double bass without blowing your budget. We don’t rush anything we do, so each job gets the time it requires to be done right!

General Check-ups

Our customers are amazed at what we can do for the playability and sound of their double basses! Whether resetting your sound post, installing a new bridge or strings, or giving your fingerboard one of our precision dressings, we will work with you to improve your set up.

Bridges

A poorly installed bridge, especially one made of inferior quality wood, can result in less sound production, warping, and inaccurate string heights and spacing. We shape and fit the bridge feet to the top of the double bass, arch the bridge for accurate string heights and spacing, and then trim the bridge for optimum flexibility and sound production.

We source authentic French Despiau bridge blanks, made of only the best aged maple.

Tailgut Installation

We offer both the traditional braided steel tailgut wire and synthetic tailgut. Both have more than ample strength and often people agree that both possess different sound qualities as a result of their flexibility.

Endpin Installation

We carry and install most popular brands of endpins, including Ulsa, Gotz, and New Harmony Music products.

Soundpost Adjustments

Aside from deficient sound conduction and string response, a poorly fit soundpost can cause damage to the top or back of a double bass. Our first-quality spruce posts are carefully fit to the proper length and location for the best possible tone production.

Fingerboard Dressings

Many new double basses sold to shops or individuals come poorly dressed, resulting in string buzzing, difficulty with intonation, and unnecessary string tension. We accurately plane, sand, and oil the fingerboard for optimum camber, radius, and playability. This includes trimming and shaping the ebony nut, as well as establishing proper string spacing.

Nut & Saddle

String height and spacing at the nut are two of the most important aspects of double bass set-up. Even with a proper dressing, improper nut grooves can misalign the string path and make it no fun to play your bass. We only use ebony for the nut and saddle.

Bridge Adjusters

We manufacture our own bridge adjusters in-house. Easy to turn and just the right size, you'll find a variety of exotic and domestic hardwoods with aluminum shafts. The best part is that the wood is all recycled from old stock!

Angled Endpins

Angled endpins have gained a lot of traction and can significantly alter the balance of your double bass, as well as access to upper registers. We drill the tapered holes and offer custom turned wooden endpins.
